Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 2026

Squirrel is built with a strict "local-first" philosophy. We believe that your data belongs to you, and you should have total control over who sees it.

1. Zero Telemetry

Unlike most modern applications, Squirrel contains absolutely no telemetry, analytics, or tracking pixels. We do not collect information about how you use the app, which folders you sync, or your hardware specifications.

2. Direct Connection Architecture

Squirrel does not operate its own cloud servers. Your data moves directly from your local machine to the cloud provider (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.) that you authorize. There is no intermediary server intercepting or storing your files.

3. Token Storage

Authentication tokens obtained via OAuth are stored exclusively on your local disk within the application's configuration folder. These tokens are never uploaded to any central database.

4. Third-Party Services

While Squirrel itself collects no data, the cloud providers you connect to (e.g., Google, Microsoft) have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their terms of service regarding how they handle your stored data.

5. Open Source Transparency

Our commitment to privacy is verifiable. Because Squirrel is open source, anyone can audit the source code to confirm that no hidden data collection exists.
